RECRUITEMNT OF TEACHERS FOR JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYAS

Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of School Education & Literacy, Govt. of India, invites applications in the prescribed form, from eligible Indian nationals for filling up of vacancies and drawing a panel of candidates for the posts of Post Graduate Teachers, Trained Graduate Teachers and Miscellaneous Categories of Trained Graduate Teachers from Gen./OBC/SC/ST Categories on DIRECT RECRUITMENT BASIS in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas located in various districts of the country.

In view of the policy that at least 1/3rd students admitted are girls; the Samiti has fixed a quota for male and female teachers in proportion to the number of girl students in Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. Thus, 1/3rd of teachers appointed shall be lady teachers. Separate merit list will accordingly be prepared for lady candidates to meet its functional requirement and ensure safety of girl students.

Post Graduate Teachers (PGT):

  • Subjects: English / Hindi / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Economics /B iology / History / Geography / Commerce
  • Pay Scale : Rs 6500-200-10500/-
  • Upper Age Limit : 40 years as on 15/02/2007
  • Educational Qualification:
    • Two Year Integrated Post Graduate M.Sc. Course from Regional College of Education of NCERT in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
      OR Master’s Degree from a recognized university with at least 50% marks in aggregate in the concerned or related subjects.
    • B.Ed. or equivalent qualification from a recognized University.
    • Proficiency in Teaching in Hindi and English languages.
  • Desirable :
    • Experience of Teaching in relevant subject, as TGT in recognized institution(s).
    • Experience of working in a residential school.
    • Knowledge of Computer Operation

Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT):

  • Subjects: English / Hindi / Mathematics / Social Studies / Science
  • Pay Scale : Rs 5500-175-9000/-
  • Upper Age Limit : 35 years as on 15/02/2007
  • Educational Qualification:
    • Four years integrated degree course of Regional College of Education of NCERT with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject as well as in the aggregate.

      OR

      A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized University with 50% marks or above in aggregate as well as in the concerned subject comprising the combination as given in the full advertisement

    • B.Ed. or equivalent qualification from a recognized University.
    • Competence to teach through English and Hindi/concerned Regional language as the case may be (This should be as per Regional Language option for subject, given in the application form). The competence to teach through Regional Language will be tested through the written examination to be held for all the subjects.
  • Desirable :
    • Experience of working in a residential school.
    • Knowledge of Computer Operation.

Miscellaneous Categories of Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT):

  • Subjects: Art/ Music/ Physical Education (Male & Female)/ Library Science
  • Pay Scale : Rs 5500-175-9000/-
  • Upper Age Limit : 30 years as on 15/02/2007
  • Educational Qualification:
    • Art Teacher: Five years recognized Diploma in any discipline of fine arts such as Drawing/Painting/Sculpture/Graphic Arts/Crafts after passing secondary school examination (Class X) or equivalent.

      OR

      Post Graduate Degree in Drawing and Painting, Fine Arts from a recognized University/Institution.

      (Degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) after class XII will be considered as equivalent to Five Years Diploma in Fine Arts after class X).

    • Music Teacher : Five Years study in Music institution recognized by the concerned State Govt. as equivalent to Graduate/Post Graduate degree. OR A Bachelor’s degree with Music from a recognized University and B.Ed. OR Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary with any one of the following:

      Sangeet-Visharad examination of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Bombay or Bhatkhanda Sangeet Vidyapeeth, Lucknow or Indira kala Sangeet Vishwa Vidyalaya, Khairagarh(MP) or Sangeet Prabhakar examination of the Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad.

      OR

      Following Degree/Diploma awarded by Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh: (a) Sangeet Bhaskar with graduation in any discipline (b) Sangeet Nritya Bhusan with graduation in any discipline (c) Sangeet Bhushan or Sangeet Nritya Visharad with Sr. Seccondary/Intermediate/Part- 1 Examination of 3 years degree course.

    • B.Ed. or equivalent qualification from a recognized University.
    • Competence to teach through English and Hindi/concerned Regional language as the case may be (This should be as per Regional Language option for subject, given in the application form). The competence to teach through Regional Language will be tested through the written examination to be held for all the subjects.
    • Library Science: University’s Degree in Library Science from a recognized Institution. OR Graduation with one year Diploma in Library Science from a recognized Institution.
    • Pysical Education : Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from a recognized institution. OR D.P.Ed. awarded by a recognized University/Institution after training of minimum one academic session provided that the admission qualification for the diploma is at least a University’s Degree
  • Desirable :
    • Experience of working in a residential school.
    • Working knowledge of English and Hindi or other Regional Language.(as per Regional Language option given in application form).

Mode of Selection: There will be a written test for the above mentioned posts. The Written test will consist of two papers – Paper-I (general paper , 60 Marks/2 Hrs.) and Paper-II (subject 80 marks/2 Hrs & language paper 40 marks/1 Hrs.) for both PGT and TGT.

  2. For GEN/OBC category, application must be accompanied by a fee of Rs. 250/- in the form of DD in favour of “Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti” payable at Chandigarh. No fee fo SC/ST/PH and Ex-Servicemen candidates.
  3. Envelope containing the duly filled in application and Demand Draft(wherever applicable) must be superscribed in bold letters as “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF PGT or TGT (as the case may be) in_________________ subject.
