Invites applications for selection as TRAINEE NAVIGATING OFFICER CADETS (TNOCs) from unmarried Male & Female candidates under the Indira Gandhi National Open University – Directorate General of Shipping (IGNOU-DGS) Project leading to B.Sc (Nautical Science).
- Qualification : Pass in 10+2 from a recognized Board with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with not less than 60% marks in PCM. OR (b) With Physics as an individual subject in one of the years of B.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Electronics with an average of not less than 55% marks in the final year from a UGC/DEC recognized Institution. OR (c) B.E./B.Tech. Degree from I.I.T or from a college recognized by AICTE/UGC/DEC. AND Should have passed with not less than 50% marks in English language as a subject, at either 10th or 12th standard or in the Degree course, conducted by a recognized board or university.
- Age (As on 1st January 2008) : For (a) above not more than 20 years., For (b) above not more than 22 years. , For (c) above not more than 24 years. The age limit is relaxable by two years in the case of female candidates.
Application Fee : General / OBC Category candidates shall enclose a demand draft of Rs.500/- drawn on a Mumbai branch of any Nationalised Bank crossed "A/c Payee Only" and payable to "The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd." . Candidates belonging to the SC/ST category are exempted from making this payment. Applicant must write his name in CAPITALS on the reverse of the Demand Draft.
How to Apply : Duly completed Application Form along with the Demand Draft as applicable, should be sent in a sealed envelope superscribed as "Application for Trainee Navigating Officer Cadet for _______________ Centre" to The Principal, Maritime Training Institute, The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd, 52-C, Adi Shankaracharya Marg, Powai, Post Saki Naka, Mumbai-400072 to reach not later than 1800 hours on 26th October, 2007. (Write choice of test centre in the blank space).
