Applications are invited from eligible candidates for drawing a panel of Professors / Associate Professors / Readers for deputation/appointment as Visiting Professors to Long Term and Short Term Chairs of Indian Council for Cultural Relations in various Universities abroad in the following subjects:
- Sanskrit; Indian Philosophy; Hindi; Tamil; Indian Studies (Classical); Indian Studied(Contemporary); Humanities & Social Sciences; Modern Indian Literature; Gandhian Studies; Cultural Studies; Buddhist Studies; Peace Studies; Political Science & International Relations; Economics; Sociology; Geography; Modern Indian History, Civilization & South Asian Affairs and World Economy & Diplomacy.
Qualifications: The applicant should be an eminent scholar having a Ph.D./D. Phil. degree with at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade in the preceding degree in any of the above given subjects or in a related subject with published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with ten years of experience in post graduate teaching and/or post-doctoral research at a recognized university/national level institution including experience of guiding research at Doctoral level. OR An outstanding scholar of national/international repute, who has made significant contribution to his/her field of study. The incumbent should have at least 3 years service with his parent University/institution as on 31/03/2009. In case of non-serving incumbents the age should not be more than 57 years as on 31/03/2009.
The appointment would be subject to the concurrence of the parent University/institution of the incumbent.
Terms and conditions of appointment/deputation:
- For Long-Term Chairs : The tenure of Appointment/ Deputation would be initially for Two years and will be subject to the provisions of the agreement to be executed by the candidate with the Council. (ii) Basic pay as being drawn at the time of deputation in the parent department or at the minimum of the pay scale applicable in case of non-serving incumbents. (iii) Compensatory Foreign Allowance as per IFS (PLCA) rules or as determined by the Council. (iv) Economy class airfare for self & spouse, fully furnished living accommodation & medical assistance will be provided during foreign assignment either by the Councilor by the host
University. - For Short-Term Chairs : The tenure of Appointment/ Deputation would be ranging from 3 to 6 months initially and will be subject to the provisions of the agreement to be executed by the candidate with the Council. (ii) Basic pay & other allowances being drawn at the time of deputation in parent department or at the minimum of the pay scale applicable in case of non-serving incumbents. (iii) Per Diem/Compensatory Foreign allowance whichever is less will be provided. (iv) Economy class airfare for self, fully furnished living accommodation and medical assistance will be provided during foreign assignment.
